Martello Building Consultancy were appointed by our client Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd as Contract Administrator, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Principal Designer for this office refurbishment project in Castle House, Folkestone.

Back in 2017 we provided the same services for some extensive external repairs to the impressive block in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone and it was great to be back again, this time working with the Principal Contractor for the internal refurbishment work – GPR Kent Limited.

Having already prepared the Building Regulation Package for the project, the works included refurbishment of the foyer area and total refurbishment of the second, third and fourth floors, bringing the large office building up to very high, modern standards.

The high specification project took six months to complete and it included significant upgrading of all the heating and lighting within the building. Environmental considerations were incorporated into the refurbishment programme including the installation of air source heat pumps and a Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) that allows lighting to use a digital signal for more precise and flexible control.
